METTA PRACTICE

When listening to any bell - home, temple, church, cellphone, take 3 breaths and stop what you are doing, reflecting on the words of the Bell Gatha. Notice any impatience you experience, or if you feel rushed to answer the phone. Just like Pavlov's dog, you have been conditioned to respond quickly to the sound of a bell.  If you are with others when your cellphone rings, let it go to voicemail, unless you are a brain surgeon on call.  This is an important mindfulness practice.
